Learning to fly can be an incredible, life-changing force in the life of a high school student. I have watched as numerous youth discovered capabilities that they never knew that they had. Besides learning about physics, chemistry, meteorology, communication, professionalism, aerodynamics, and geography, aviation students learn the difficult to develop skill of good judgment. While many high school students are concerned with their next test, their next date, or their next high, student pilots are learning how to make good decisions in the real world environment of an airplane cockpit.
I believe that flight training can be an excellent incentive to challenge youth to go farther with their lives. To demonstrate this, I am willing to give discounted flight instruction at the rate of $15/hour to students who agree to steer clear of drugs and alcohol. Students who pursue this opportunity will need to sign a contract stating their intention and submit to occasional drug testing.
